Edward J Brown b. 1929

Born Cowdenbeath. An church organist at the age of 13, he later joined the Central Band of the RAF playing trombone and piano. In 1954 be became a student at the Royal College of Music, graduating in 1957, and subsequently taught at Cranleigh, Surrey, prior to emigrating to Canada in 1967 where he continued his school teaching and organist career. He is now retired, but maintains a busy schedule as an accompanist and assistant organist at St Mary's Cathedral, Kingston, Ontario, where he now lives. His compositions include Immortal Charms, a song cycle of 20 poems by Robert Burns, premiered in St Andrews in 1990. (1996)
