Dennis Milne 1949 - 1988

Born in Lanark. Studied double bass and composition at the Royal Academy in London, and also in Hungary and Switzerland under Europe's most famous bassist, Lajos Montag. Milne then returned to London where he founded, and directed, the Chamber Music Players of London. While based in London, he played with many orchestras and chamber groups and worked as a session musician for film and television recordings. In 1986, he emigrated to America, where he founded the Serenata of Santa Fe and played with the New Mexico Symphony Orchestra. He composed mainly chamber works, often for his own ensembles, and a Guitar Concerto for David Russell. Milne was killed in a car crash at the age of 39.
