Raymond Dodd b. 1929

Raymond Dodd studied composition at the Royal Academy of Music in London, then at Oxford University with Edmund Rubbra and later privately with Matyas Seiber.

He was, successively, lecturer, senior lecturer and Head of Department at the University of Aberdeen from 1956 - 1991. His compositions include orchestral, chamber and vocal music. More recent works include Gratiae for strings, Concerto for Bassoon and Chamber Orchestra (1995), Variations for string orchestra (1996) and Dialogue for cello and string orchestra (1997).

As a cellist, he has performed widely, in Scotland and further a field, both as soloist and in chamber music. For many years he was a member of the Aberdeen Trio and formed the Morven Duo with Donald Hawksworth.

Raymond Dodd studied cello with Douglas Cameron at the Royal Academy of Music and later with Maurice Eisenberg. He has performed widely, in Scotland and further afield, both as soloist and in chamber music. For many years he was a member of the Aberdeen Trio and formed the Morven Duo with Donald Hawksworth.
